Even with increased surveillance and tight security around major
installations, Al Shabaab terrorists seem not to be done with Kenya just yet.
The Somalia based militants have now
made President Uhuru Kenyatta their next target after the massacre of 148
students of Garissa University on April 2nd.
This is after they infiltrated his
heavily guarded home in Gatundu South and sent one of their men to survey the
home in preparation for the terrorist attack for failing to heed to their
demand to pull Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) out of Somalia.
Said Mirre Siyad breached the security
wall of President Kenyatta’s Gatundu residence, which is under round the clock
surveillance from an elite security unit on Tuesday, to survey for Al Shabaab,
something that has left many Kenyans, who are exposed to Al Shabaab threats,
afraid of their security.
However, he was arrested and handed
over to the Anti-Terror Police Unit who arraigned him in court yesterday.
State Prosecutor Daniel Karuri
confirmed that Siyad had been sent by Al Shabaab to survey Uhuru’s home for a
planned Al Shabaab terror attack and requested more time for the police to
conclude investigation that would send the suspect to jail forever.
The court granted the Prosecutor’s
application to detain the suspect for some time pending investigations.
However, some reports from the ATPU today revealed that Siyad was a mentally unstable man and was known to some people in the Kenyatta family
