28 AL SHABAAB terrorists arrested on their way to attack other installations in Kenya & UG

Police have arrested 28 Al Shabaab suspects who were labelled dangerous and were on a mission to cause havoc in Kenya and Uganda.

The 28 were arrested in Nakuru and Marsabit Counties as police intensified patrols and roadblocks along the highways after the chilling massacre of 147 students in Garissa University College last Thursday.

24 suspects, who are of Somali origin, were arrested in Nakuru en route to Uganda from Nairobi on Monday night while 4 were arrested in Marsabit yesterday in the border town of Moyale as they prepared to leave for Nairobi for their mission.

Nakuru County Commissioner, Mohammed Birik, confirmed the arrests saying the Al Shabaab suspects could be fleeing ‘hostile’ areas after the Garissa attack to softer targets.

He also asked members of the public to volunteer more information that could lead to the arrest of more suspects.

“We are not taking chances. We have intensified patrols in all towns and we are asking members of the public to be cautious as well and volunteer important information to security officers,” said Birik.
