PIGO MANCHESTER UNITED:::VAN PERSIE NA ROONEY MAJERUHI
Manchester United have new injury worries over striker
Robin van Persie after he pulled out of the Holland squad for this
week’s international break.
The Dutch have a friendly against neighbours Germany, but the new Old Trafford favourite has withdrawn after picking up a thigh injury.
Van Persie played the full 90 minutes of Manchester United’s eventful
win over Aston Villa on Saturday evening and there was little
indication that he had damaged after the game.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s side had to comeback from being 2-0 down at Villa
Park, with half-time substitute Javier Hernandez inspiring then with
two goals and forcing an own goal from defender Ron Vlaar.
There has been no indication, as yet, that Van Persie’s injury is at
all serious and whether it will affect his availability ahead of the
Premier League leaders’ clash at Norwich City next Saturday evening.
The 29-year-old’s absence will mean a rare start for his rival
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who has also been in terrific form over the past
year and a half.
Van Persie is not the only United player to withdraw from international duty through injury, his strike partner Wayne Rooney is out of England’s friendly against Sweden on Wednesday.
Rooney pulled up with an ankle injury in the Villa win and had to be substituted with ten minutes remaining.
