Arsenal beat West Brom on penalties after a tense Capital One Cup tie at The Hawthorns to set up a home tie against Chelsea.
The Gunners appeared to be on their way out of the competition after 18-year-old Serge Gnabry missed the London club's second penalty. But Craig Dawson and Morgan Amalfitano both spurned their attempts, allowing Nacho Monreal to net the winner for Arsenal.
Thomas Eisfeld put Arsene Wenger's side ahead on the hour mark after latching onto a Nicklas Bendtner through ball.
But Saido Berahino headed home the equaliser just 10 minutes later to force extra time in The Midlands.
